WHY AM I RUNNING?
I am running because I believe the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board can be a vehicle to advance climate and environmental justice. By working with the community, our park system can be an integral part of an equitable, resilient, and vibrant Minneapolis.
PRIORITIES AT A GLANCE
COMMUNITY-DRIVEN GOVERNANCE
The Minneapolis Park Board has made some massive mistakes in recent years that not only ignored the wishes of residents but actively hurt them. We need leadership on the Park Board that is rooted in our community and works for all of us, not just out-of-town developers.
BOLD & MEANINGFUL CLIMATE ACTION
Climate change is a global crisis, but we can take steps locally to tackle this issue. By equitably expanding our city's community gardens and urban tree canopy, we can increase our carbon sequestration and work towards becoming a carbon-negative city while helping people and making their day-to-day lives easier.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
The Minneapolis Park Board manages more than 7,000 acres of land and water, including some of the city's most vital habitats. These must be protected, not only for our enjoyment but for the city's wildlife and natural ecosystems, starting by installing more rain gardens and pet waste stations across Minneapolis' parks.
